Just how did the Government decide we must build
three million new homes?
The Government is insisting that by 2020 we must build 3 million new homes. It's better to plan for homes we need, rather than might need, and that developers are actually capable of building.
With leading housebuilders massively scaling down their plans, it makes no sense to force local councils to earmark land for housing to meet a hopelessly unrealistic housebuilding target. This can only lead to developers cherry picking greenfield sites, cause blight and speculation and deprive urban communities from the investment and regeneration they desperately need.
Help us persuade the Government to take a more sensible approach, adopt a more realistic target and prevent the loss of precious countryside.
